Der PM 451 ist der kleinste Schlägel unter den Mallets mit Kunststoffstiel. Er ist 255 Millimeter lang. Der harte Filzkopf hat einen Durchmesser von 25 Millimetern.
Er ist sehr leicht, robust und lässt sich leicht reinigen. Einsatzgebiete liegen beispielsweise bei den Toms und Stabspielen.
Der Schlägel kann auch eine Alternative für harte Mallets mit Holzköpfen sein.
Der Anschlag ist im Vergleich gedämpfter. Daher findet dieser Mallet auch Anwendung bei Klangschalen.
